Ford Kuga burns on East London expressway

A new Ford Kuga Ecoboost burst into flames in East London on Friday afternoon.
The owner fled.
Traffic came to a standstill on the busy North East Expressway.
Videos of the burning car were circulated on social media on Friday.
Driver Edwin Boer said he was too shaken to say much.
Ford South Africa, has launched an investigation following the incident in the East London.
Ford SA national spokesperson Minesh Bhagalo said: “We are investigating the cause of the fire as a matter of urgency. The safety of our customers is a priority for us. At this time, we do not have any further details.”
More than 4,500 Ford Kugas equipped with the ecoboost engine were recalled between 2016 and 2017 after 70 caught alight.
