EC man who allegedly killed his girlfriend is arrested

A murder suspect who was rumoured to have committed suicide has been arrested three months after allegedly killing his girlfriend in Port Alfred.
Eastern Cape police spokesperson captain Mali Govender said Eric Meyers was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning after being on the run since October last year.
“After receiving information, an integrated operation with members of Port Alfred and Motherwell police clusters led to the arrest of the wanted murder suspect at Izinyoka location in the Motherwell area.”
It is alleged Meyers stabbed his girlfriend several times in her upper body in October last year.
“She died at the scene. The suspect also threatened to kill his nine-year-old son and then himself. His son now lives with a relative who was also injured during the traumatic ordeal,” Govender said.
Meyers is due in the Port Alfred magistrate's court on Friday...
