Eastern Cape Covid-19 cases jump to 417, SA records sharpest daily increase, 10 new deaths

South Africa's total number of people infected by the Covid-19 coronavirus has risen to 3,953 after an unprecedented 318 case daily increase, the health ministry announced in Thursday.

There are now 417 cases, in the Eastern Cape, rising sharply from 377 on Wednesday. The province has had six deaths and 19 recoveries.

The country also recorded 10 more deaths to the pandemic, bringing the national death toll to 75. This is the highest number of positive infections recorded in a day.
