East London medical doctor Siphokazi Sokupa was granted R3,000 bail by the local magistrate's court on Tuesday in her fraud case.
Releasing her on bail, magistrate Linda Magaxeni said the case was a 50/50 split between the state and the defence.
Sokupa was arrested last Thursday by the Hawks after she was allegedly caught issuing fake medical certificates to an undercover officer.
Magaxeni took into consideration Sokupa's age and the fact that the state does not have an open-and-shut case against the 67 year-old.
The case was postponed to 23 September for further investigation.
