Engcobo mayor recovers from Covid-19

Engcobo mayor Siyabulela Zangqa has recovered from Covid 19.

Municipal spokesperson Sivuyile Myeko said that the mayor has been retested after completing self-isolation to ensure it was safe for him to return to work and had received a negative test result.

On Monday he will return to work in Ngcobo.

Engcobo municipality has been hard hit by the pandemic, with three additional councillors and 15 employees having tested positive and in self-isolation or in hospital.

Myeko said the municipality and the mayor thanked the community for their support and encouraged them to stay at home, wear masks, maintain social distancing and sanitise regularly to flatten the curve of the coronavirus.
