Four arrested after spate of crimes in Mdantsane

Four Mdantsane murder suspects aged between 20 and 26 were arrested this week after committing crimes in various areas of the township. 

Sivenathi Dubula, 25, was arrested after he murdered a 76 year old woman and her 59 year old mentally challenged son on September 21 at their home in NU 2. It is reported they were Dubula’s relatives.

Dubula's case was remanded for formal bail application on October 27 at the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court.

During the early hours of Sunday evening, August 16, a robbery which escalated into a murder occurred at the Sisonke Informal Settlement in NU2. Three men –Thandolwetu Bangiso, 26, Nkosinathi Rasera, 20,and Masixole Tokota, 20 – were arrested. They remain in custody.

Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Sibongile Soci, said the suspects have appeared at the Mdantsane Magistrate's Court on charges of murder, and their case has been sent back for a formal bail application to be heard on October 23.

In the evening of October 12, a man was found dumped at the Bridle Drift Dam after three men kidnapped him from Duncan Village. The three suspects were arrested and are due to appear in the East London Magistrate Court on Thursday.
