In our online report on Tuesday headlined “Travel agency owner jailed for defrauding EC education department”, we erroneously stated that “Siyawela Travelling owned by Bathandwa Ndyamara submitted dodgy claims ” to the department. This is, in fact, incorrect as Siyawela is the complainant in the case. Bathandwa Bazukile Ndyamara, who was sentenced to six years imprisonment by the East London regional court on Tuesday, does not own Siyawela. We regret the error and apologise to all affected.
