Today is the biggest day, one that will perhaps be the only for most, if not all Tornado FC players as they take on Orlando Pirates at Orlando Stadium at 7.30pm.

Leading the pack as captain is one Denklen Ngwetjana who also happens to be cousin of Pirates left-back, Thabo Matlaba.

Ngwetjana said this was a dream come true for him and his 22 colleagues making up the travelling squad that left East London Airport fired up yesterday midday.

The game that will be beamed live on SS4, DStv channel 204 provides Jerry Sikhosana’s charges the platform to give their best for they do not know who may be watching.

For all they know, the top scouts in the country may be in attendance and many more will be watching on TV hoping to rope in top performers to their stables.

Ngwetjana understands this: “This is our chance to shine and show the world what we can offer and everyone in the team is excited about it.

“We have told one another that it is either we shine now because we may never shine again watched by millions around the country.

“We are 120% ready and the spirit in the team is high but this for me is even more a highlight because I will be playing against my cousin Thabo Matlaba for the very first time while expected to lead my teammates by example,” continued the skilled winger.

The Mdantsane-based players are convinced they will give Buccaneers the shock of their lives.

They have the talent to get the business done in all key positions of the game. Interesting matchups include the question of how Kermit Erasmus will fare against the hard-tackling Godfrey Chauke.

Chauke is the soul of Tornado’s defence with physical presence that intimidates opponents but will Erasmus’ experience be the difference?

At the centre of the park, Issa Sarr is likely to watch Tornado playmaker Sifiso Siluma closely and frustrate him out of play.

But the latter is likely to emerge victorious in this battle if his quick passing and swift mobility is anything to go by against a slow Sarr.

Upfront for the visitors, Thamsanqa “Mara” Moni has been entrusted with the duty to use his pace to give the likes of Siyabonga Sangweni sleepless nights while his partner Siya Mlambo will be expected to use his physical presence to excel in the role of holding striker.

What will surely separate boys from men by 10pm is who is a better strategist between Sikhosana and Bucs’ Eric Tinkler.
