Buffalo vow to be the Bee’s knees at Jan Smuts

FC Buffalo will be hoping for revenge as they meet EC Bees FC in an ABC Motsepe League clash at the Jan Smuts Stadium in East London at 4pm today.

Bees recently clobbered Buffalo 5-0 in a Nedbank Cup qualifier and will be expecting history to repeat itself.

Buffalo boss Mash Mashaya believes Bees won’t know what hit them this time around.

“You cannot expect the same result, that is football for you,” said Mashaya.

“Look no further than what happened to Orlando Pirates recently, they humiliated Kaizer Chiefs in the league match but it was payback time for the Glamour Boys in the Telkom Knockout semifinal game.

“We will defeat Bees this time around because our focus has always been on the league and we are playing at home.”

But all eyes are on the top of the log summit Tornado FC who are taking on third-placed Lion City at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium at 4pm this afternoon.

Tornado, currently with 16 points from seven outings, will be looking to solidify their position at the top and keep their impressive run.

The Mdantsane side have been in top form of late, scoring 14 goals in their three previous matches.

Their average scoring rate is more than two goals every match after finding the net 19 times, all thanks to their attacking quadruple – General Nkobongwane, Andrew Simenya, Thobile Mkhize and skipper Lungelo Yekiso who have been at the frontline of the war.

The weapon of mass destruction that is their attack which led the 5-2 demolition of Future Tigers last weekend will be on the spotlight once again.

But in City, they meet opponents who are equally in fine form having been climbing up the log table.

The PE outfit, statistically, are not far behind their Mdantsane foes.

Their goals scored is two less than that of Tornado while they have conceded nine to the opposition’s 10 thus far this season.

Defensively, City are better than Tornado who need to jack up at the back.

Tornado, though have always been a difficult team to beat at Sisa Dukashe – a venue their coach Thobela Bikwani refers to as a slaughterhouse.

As is now a tradition, the home side – crowd-pullers of note will be further bolstered by their influential 12thman – the ever energetic supporters.

Bikwani says he is not bothered by City. “We do not underestimate our opponents but I can guarantee you we are going for three points in this one.”

Bikwani reiterated that he will continue with the attacking style of play he has been implementing at Tornado but raised concerns about their defensive play.

“Defence is something we are working on but I believe we are not bad.”
