New Chilli Boys to pull out all stops

Chippa United’s new signings are determined to make impressive debuts against Baroka in their league fixture at Nelson Mandela Bay tomorrow (7.30pm).

Coach Dan “Dance” Malesela’s main focus is to get the team to a more favourable position on the log.

The Chilli Boys will open the second half of the season without the service of defenders James Okwuosa and Marc van Heerden, who were part of a swap deal between Chippa and Orlando Pirates. That saw Justice Chabalala, Donald Mokondela and Sello Japhta move to Port Elizabeth.

Chippa has also promoted defender Yurigg Conwood, of Gelvandale, from their development structures.

The four new additions say they want to add value to the team.

Former Pirates player Sello Japhta says he has been enjoying training with his new team.

“I want to be part of the team’s achievements,” Japhta said.

Striker Donald Mokondela said he would only talk once he had played.

“Let me do the job first then I will talk after,” he said. “I am happy to be playing for Chippa,” Justice Chabalala said he was confident he would be able to help tighten up Chippa’s defence.

Yurigg Conwood, 19, said his hard work had paid off.
