Sinethemba Qeshile's star has continued to rise after the former Hudson Park High School captain was included in the squad of players who will travel to Mumbai, India for the annual spin bowling camp from the end of the month.

Qeshile, who only matriculated last year, was included as one of the six batsmen selected to take part in the camp.

“To be honest I didn’t expect it at all, but I am quite happy and very excited to be amongst, franchise and international players going to the spin camp,” said Qeshile.

“I am just going to take in and learn as much as I can from the experience and hopefully I can come back a better cricketer and add another facet to my game.”

It has been a whirlwind few months for Qeshile, after being named 2017 Coke Week player of the tournament he returned home and was added to the Border squad, making his first- class and list A debut in February.

He then made the jump to Franchise cricket in March, turning out for the Warriors for the first time against the Dolphins in Durban.

“Things have been moving really quickly in a short amount of time, but it has been really exciting and I have found a belief in myself while having fun at the same time,” admitted Qeshile.

“I have been in very good form since the Coke Week in December last year and I just took that into this year and have kept it going when making my first-class and then franchise debut.”

Qeshile was selected alongside Warriors teammate Christiaan Jonker who will be taking part in the camp for the first time.

Jonker made his Proteas debut against India at the end of February and he will be looking to take this opportunity to add more to his game at the spin camp.

The other batsmen included for the camp are Proteas Temba Bavuma and current franchise stars Zubayr Hamza, Tony de Zorzi and Rudi Second.

In all the squad is a mixture of youth and experience headed by many of South Africa’s senior spin bowlers such as Proteas Keshav Maharaj, Dane Piedt and Tabraiz Shamsi, along with a host of emerging franchise stars.

Senior coaches will also be going to the camp including former Warriors coach and current Proteas assistant coach Malibongwe Maketa.

The camp takes place from April 28 to May 6.
