Chilli Boys expect to be too hot for SuperSport

Chippa United will have a chance to leave their fans in East London all smiles when they welcome SuperSport United in their last Absa Premiership fixture at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Sunday.
The last time the Chilli Boys visited the NU2 venue they were beaten 1-0 by Bloemfontein Celtic in January, but they have picked up a lot of points since hiring former Golden Arrows mentor, Clinton Larsen.
After that disappointing result Chilli Boys have managed to snaffle more than three wins and two draws in the top-flight league.
After losing 4-2 against Orlando Pirates in January, they won two games back to back – scoring four goals in both matches against Maritzburg United and former African champions Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Chilli Boys then went on to draw 1-1 against Baroka at Peter Mokaba Stadium last month, but that didn’t deter Chippa as they bounced back to winning ways with a 2-0 win against Free State Stars at Goble Park.
That was the game where the senior players in the club showed how committed they were, as Kurt Lentjies and Rhulani Manzini showed their worth as they scored to steal maximum points.
The Chilli Boys have also impressed many football fans when they qualified for the quarterfinals of the Nedbank Cup which will see them playing against Bidvest Wits.
But the Port Elizabeth-based side are still lingering in the relegation zone as they currently are left with only nine league games to play before the season concludes.
Larsen went on record to say he was looking forward to coming down to the NU2 venue.
The last time Chilli Boys visited East London shores former Black Leopards mentor Joel Masutha was at the helm.
“We are looking forward to going there to try and give our best and get the results for the team. It’s a game where we are looking forward to putting smiles on faces,” said Larsen.
Chippa United chief operations officer Lukhanyo Mzizi also said they’ve always enjoyed a full house at Sisa Dukashe hence they wanted to give their fans a good time on Sunday.
“We’ve collected most of the points at Sisa Dukashe, so it’s our ground and our players love it. People here love us as well.
“So we are expecting nothing different from the past and we also expect nothing but the best performance as this is our last league game at Sisa Dukashe,” said Mzizi.
The Chilli Boys will be without instrumental midfielder Andile Mbenyane who’s serving a suspension for a red card he sustained during the Nedbank Cup encounter against Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) who are currently campaigning in the National First Division.
But prolific skipper Mark Mayambela has served his suspension and fans might see him return to the fold come Sunday.
The game kicks off at 3.30pm..
