Gospel group returns to EC for two shows after 20 years away
Led by founder Belina Nkosi, the renowned Mpumalanga a cappella group arrived in Mthatha yesterday for their show in the town hall this evening. The group will then proceed to perform at Uloyiso Community Church in East London’s North End on Sunday.
Nkosi said they were happy to return to the province after almost 20 years away.
“We came back because our fans in this province demanded we come back. They have been calling different members of the group requesting we come for a show.”
She said people should come expecting to be revived spiritually.
“We just usher in the Holy Spirit. It is he who does the work to his people,” she said.
Eastern Cape artists who will form part of the tour said they were honoured to share the stage “with legends” in the gospel music.
Among those set to share the stage with the group is Nobathembu Mabeka, formerly of Joyous Celebration, who will be performing at both shows.
Mthatha’s Bulie Mhatu, Mpumie Mkhiwane and Ozayo Ndamase will also perform tonight.
Veliswa Skeyi, Butho Vuthela and Mawethu Madikiza will be joining the visiting group at the East London show.
Mabeka said her fans could expect to hear popular songs of hers like Baleka and Ungqo WeVangeli, as well as some new songs that she sang during her live DVD recording in East London recently.
Masibuyele kuJehova manager Fakazi Gama urged people to come out in their numbers “to celebrate our living legends”.
The Mthatha show will start at 7pm tonight.
