Grammy award-winning contemporary gospel singer Bebe Winans, is coming to East London next month and the Dispatch is giving away 25 double tickets to the show.
The 52-year-old music sensation will be performing on April 6. Winans will be supported by a number of upcoming and well established musicians from around the country.
For the past three weeks, musicians have been campaigning to have their names included in the lineup. To date, 10 artists and groups have been revealed to the public.
They are Betusile Mcinga, Khanyisa Sabuka, Andile ka Majola, STAND, Zama and the Voice Ministries, Xolani Mdlalose, Butho Vuthela, Ntokozo Gospel Group, Unathi Ndzube and Nozipho Zubane.
Event organiser Vovee Batala said his team were pleased with the outcome of the voting process, and urged people to keep on voting for their favourites. It is expected that more artists will be revealed next week.
“We had more artists nominated last week and received more votes than for those nominated the previous week,” he said.
The host of the event is Umhlobo Wenene FM’s Putco Mafani. Batala said they were also looking for three co-hosts to help Mafani on the day.
“The co-host line has been leading all the categories. We have more than 1000 votes in that category.
“We will be making the announcing on March 31.”
General tickets for the event cost R300, VIP R1500 and VVIP R2500.
Batala said VIP tickets included light lunch, cocktails, snacks, drinks, private parking, backstage pass and lounge setup.
VVIP guests will get the same plus “a chance to meet Winans”, he said.
Batala said they would be doing more promotions to help market the show.
“People are buying tickets but at a slow rate. We know East London people always wait for the last minute before buying. By next week we expect ticket sales to go up.”
Batala said they were still looking for 180 ushers to assist on the day.
“Churches are starting to request information. This is a community event and we want to include as many people as we can,” he said.
