Woman alleged to have ‘offered’ girls to farmer for compensation

A Stutterheim mother appeared in court with a local farmer on Wednesday for allegedly trafficking three girls for sexual offences.

The woman cannot be named to protect the identity of one the victims who is her related to her. The farmer cannot be named because they have not yet been asked to plead.

It is the state’s case that the woman "offered" the girls to the farmer for compensation.

Together they face a string of 26 charges which include sexual exploitation of a child and human trafficking for sexual purposes. The farmer also faces three counts of rape.

It is alleged that the farmer would give the woman between R 90 and R150 each time. The woman would‚ allegedly‚ in turn give the girls R20 each to buy their silence.

The courtroom is packed‚ with members of the ANC Women’s League also in attendance. – Daily Dispatch
