Threesomes made slain girlfriend jealous and violent - DJ Donald

Former Jozi FM DJ Donald “DJ Donald Duck” Sebolai claims that jealousy over threesomes and other women caused his slain girlfriend to become violent.

The Johannesburg High Court‚ sitting at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court southeast of Johannesburg‚ where Sebolai is on trial for murder‚ heard this on Monday.

Sebolai‚ 38‚ is accused of stabbing Flavia Rachel “Dolly” Tshabalala‚ 32‚ to death after the couple had a fight at his Soweto flat in June last year.

He has pleaded not guilty and the defence has indicated he will claim self-defence.

Defence advocate Thabang Mathopo told the court that Sebolai will testify of Tshabalala’s violent streak‚ which grew out of jealousy.

Mathopo was cross-examining Tshabalala’s close friend Nonhlanhla Mkhize‚ who last week testified that Sebolai called her on the day of Tshabalala’s death and said: “I killed Dolly.”

Mathopo said that Sebolai claims he had sex with Tshabalala and Mkhize together on three occasions‚ once at Tshabalala’s mother’s home in Rockville‚ Soweto‚ and twice at his flat.

Sebolai will testify that he wanted to have a fourth threesome with the two women but his request led to a physical altercation between himself and Tshabalala at a tavern‚ Mathopo said.

“The accused will testify that the deceased got jealous because she believed the accused wanted you more than her‚” Mathopo said to Mkhize.

But Mkhize denied the allegations that she had a sexual relationship with Sebolai‚ saying she and Tshabalala had been friends since childhood and that their tastes in men were different.

She also said she does not buy Sebolai’s claim that her friend was jealous of her.

Sebolai liked so-called “yellow-bone” or light-skinned women with six packs and she does not fit this profile because she wears a size 40‚ she said.

Mkhize said to her knowledge‚ the couple were fighting that day in the tavern because Sebolai was talking to another woman.

“ loved but he also liked women‚” she said.

The court heard later that Sebolai allegedly told police officer Warrant Officer Pheeha Esrom Mabitsi that he wanted to end his relationship with Tshabalala because the sex was bad.

Mabitsi testified that Sebolai wanted his assistance in kicking Tshabalala out of his flat‚ where the couple lived together for some time‚ because her vagina had “stretched” and sex with her was no longer enjoyable.

Sebolai denies saying this.

Detective Sergeant Gueth Moses Hlabathi then testified about Sebolai’s arrest‚ more than a week after Tshabalala’s death.

Sebolai claims that he was not read his rights when arrested‚ but Hlabathi denied this.

Sebolai is out on bail of R10 000.
