Easy listening star comes to Legends

Singer and songwriter Stuart Reece, best-known for chart-topper Silver Rocket Cadillac, performs at Legends Showcase in East London next Friday, March 18.

Other radio singles include Love Song and Write About Us and to date he has released two albums and a six-track EP, all available on iTunes via www.stuartreeceband.com.

The 26-year-old started playing guitar at the age of 13.

His style is easy listening and Reece says he draws his inspiration from artists like Jason Mraz, Bruno Mars, Jack Johnson and George Ezra.

In October 2010 he formed his own band, and with money saved from waiting tables, recorded an EP titled Leave This Town. The EP consists of six songs and two made it onto national radio, with one – Love Song – charting at number 3 on Algoa FM’s top 30.

The surprise success of the EP sparked the idea of recording a full album and a year later Reece and his band headed into former Finkelstiens Bryan McLagen’s studio to work on his debut full length album. Launched in April 2012, Chasing Shadows is best known for the singles Write About Us and Better Left Unsaid, which were both playlisted on radio stations across South Africa.

In 2013, Reece and the band headed back to McLagen’s studio to begin recording again.

Storm, mixed and mastered by Paris Lucas, launched to a sold-out crowd in Port Elizabeth a few months later, with the single Alright picked up for national radio airplay.

In December 2013 Reece relocated to Johannesburg and within three months had recorded the single Falling for You, produced by Marius Brouwer at Pop Planet Studio, which has also been playlisted nationally.

The following year Reece met up with producer Jake Odendaal (Elvis Blue and Tree 63) and started work on his three latest singles, which were completed in June.

Silver Rocket Cadillac made it to number 1 on Algoa FM’s top 30 and Coming Home is playlisted on 28 radio stations across SA including KFM, RSG, Algoa FM, Groot FM and OFM.

Reece, both playing solo and with his band, has been on stage with Elvis Blue, A-King, Dan Patlansky, Prime Circle, Lloyd Cele, Mi Casa, Jimmy Nevis, Kurt Darren and Gold Fish.

lTickets for the Friday night show, which starts at 8pm, are from R80-R120, which includes a meal. Book at Lee Gold Music or at the door. Fully licensed bar on the premises.
