Arrested #Outsourcingmustfall activist Vusi Mahlangu is due to appear in the Mthatha Magistrate’s Court at 2pm on Wednesday.
On Wednesday morning‚ members of the Mthatha Organised Crimes Unit will take him to see a doctor to examine him‚ before whisking him to the court situated in the CBD.
Mahlangu reportedly claimed he was kidnapped in Mthatha last Tuesday and later assaulted. The doctor will examine him and make a determination on whether or not he was really assaulted.
Mahlangu was arrested by members of the Hawks on Tuesday night‚ a week after he was reported to have been kidnapped.
He stands accused of committing perjury and defeating the ends of justice.
A source within the Hawks said Mahlangu was charged for lying about the alleged kidnapping.
