Tense wait for eviction at Fort Hare

Things are tense at the University of Fort Hare's Alice campus as students wait on the institution to execute an eviction order on students staying in residences.

During a DispatchLive journalist's visit to one of the institution's residences a student shockingly asked a reporter whether he is the sherrif.

The student who did not want to be named for fear of abuse said they are expecting to be served at any point. “We are just going about our day waiting to be served at anytime since the deadline was two in the afternoon,” he said.

The university has issued out forms to students for application to be considered for temporary accommodation in a residence in East London. The form says students from Limpopo, Mpumalanga, North West and international students are exempt from applying.
