Water treatment works to cost R500m

Buffalo City Metro (BCM) has increased by more than 400% a contract awarded five years ago for the construction of the Kei Road Water Treatment Works (WTW).

The contract, which in 2012 cost R100-million, has been increased to more than R500-million.

But BCM spokesman Sibusiso Cindi said this was mainly due to insufficient funds at the time which resulted in the project moving at a slow pace.
