More than 100 000 EC matrics sit for first paper

More than 100 000 Eastern Cape pupils officially sat for their first paper at 1049 centres across the province this morning.

The Grade 12 final examination started on October 16 and 17 with Computer Applications Technology and Information Technology, and the rest of other subjects were written starting from today. The last day of the exams is 28 November.

A total of 81 986 are full-time, while 21 787 registered as part-time candidates.

Education provincial head Themba Kojana said there were no reported incidents from all the examination centres.

“Material was delivered on time and the fact that we have not received any reports at this time, can only mean all is well,” he told DispatchLIVE this afternoon.

Printing of question papers started from September 26 2017 and will be completed by November 11. The first delivery of question papers was on October 9 and the last delivery will be on November 20.

Collection of question papers from district offices or nodal points by schools or exam centres will be done daily from October 16 until November 28.

Written scripts will be delivered to the district offices by exam centres daily.
