The death toll on the Ngcobo accident has risen to 13.
The Vaal Maseru bus travelling from Welkom in the Free State to Mthatha was involved in a horrific accident in the morning killing at least 12 people on the scene.
The 13th passenger died at All Saints Hospital outside Ngcobo.
All the survivors were taken to hospital with injuries that varied from minor to serious.
Department of health spokesman Sizwe Kupelo said the driver was found dead on the scene. “His body was found hanging from a tree,” he said.
The bus company has since sent condolences to the family of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to those who were injured.
