The state of Buffalo City Metro’s West Bank cemetery is upsetting many of the suburbs’ residents.
When the Daily Dispatch visited on Monday not only was it overgrown, with parts seemingly being used as a dumping ground, but it appeared as if someone was living there.
Anthony Sterling, who has lived in West Bank for 63 years and is a ward 19 (which includes Green Fields, Buffalo Flats, Parkside and Fort Glamorgan) committee member, said he had heard from people as far off as Johannesburg that they could no longer find their relatives’ graves at the cemetery – and also that it was no longer safe to visit on your own.
