Eastern Cape's new Covid-19 cases second highest in SA at 93, nation's total up by 785

South Africa's total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases has risen by 785 infections to 13,524, according to health minister Zweli Mkhize.

The minister also reported nine new coronavirus related deaths in the country, bring the national death toll to 247.

The Eastern Cape had 93 new cases, the second highest in the country, and its total Covid-19 case count was as 1,662. The provincial death toll remains at 31.

The Western Cape had 563 new cases to bring its total to the 7,798.
