Chippa seek way out of current rut

Chippa United have gone three PSL matches without a victory and will be looking to bounce back with a win against SuperSport United at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday (kick-off 3pm).

But most importantly Chippa will be out to revenge their 2-0 defeat against SuperSport in the first leg of the league.

The last time the Chilli Boys’ tasted victory was in February when they beat Free State Stars 2-0 in a league fixture.

The Port Elizabeth-based side missed out on banking a possible nine points and only managed to collect two points from their three previous matches.

They lost 3-0 to University of Pretoria and the game was followed by two draws, one against Ajax Cape Town and Maritzburg United.

With Orlando Pirates right behind Chippa’s tail only a point behind, a win for Dan “Dance” Malesela’s troops on Sunday will ensure they hold on to their current position on the log.

However, a loss could see the Chilli Boys’ drop out of the top eight depending on other team’s results.

The game against Matsatsantsa will not be easy as the Pretoria side will be looking to make a comeback from their 2-0 defeat against log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.

The match is crucial as both teams are eying a top eight finish this season.

SuperSport are on 10th place on the log with 30 points from 23 games, while Chippa are sixth with 33 points from 23 matches.

Only three points separate the two sides on the log.

Matsatsantsa will want to keep their clean unbeaten sheet against Chippa.

In their five league meetings since the 2012-13 season SuperSport have an unbeaten record with four wins and a draw.
