“We still need to sit down for a meeting with all the clubs later today to discuss the times and iron out some minor issues, however apart from that we are ready, the field is in good condition.

“We are hoping for better weather conditions because there have been reports of rain this weekend. We just hope it will still allow us to continue with the games,” said Hlakulana.

He extended his gratitude to Pastor Xatasi of God’s Glory Ministries for funding the tournament with R40 000.

A total of 24 rugby clubs will be taking part in the tournament, including seven teams from Berlin, three from Nxarhuni, two from Kwelera and Tsholomnqa, and then one each from Kei Road, Kidds Beach, Mooiplaas and King William’s Town.

A further six teams from Peddie have also been confirmed and action should be extremely fierce over the competition.

Pozi United forward Simthembile Sonyasha said he is more than ready for the tournament and he hopes his team will win.
