Hitting the Blues notes

SCOUTS are on a talent search for South African artists to showcase their talent at the Blues Festival in France.

The search forms part of Hennessy Artistry’s Talent Quest, which was launched last year.

Hennessy, well known for its cognac, has supported the Blues Passion Festival in the heart of Hennessy’s hometown in Cognac, France, since its inception in 1994.

This is the first time the Talent Quest has been opened to South African entrants.

Brand manager for Hennessy Cognac, Aimee Kellen, said this was the perfect opportunity for ambitious performers.

“Through this competition, we’re giving artists the opportunity to perform on the same stage that BB King, Gil Scott- Heron, Ray Charles, Massive Attack, Moby and Sting have been on – a once in a lifetime opportunity,” she said.

Entrants must be over the age of 25 and should hold a valid passport and be eligible to travel. Submissions should include a video of a performance, which must be submitted on Hennessy.com and are not to feature any persons under the legal drinking age or irresponsible drinking behaviour.

The closing date for all entries is April 30.

“Talent Quest is giving fans the opportunity to perform on one of the most revered stages around the world.

“Competing globally for this opportunity, the winners will attend the Cognac Blues Festival and be given the chance to interact with some of the world’s most established artists, including the confirmed lineup for 2013 of Ben Harper, Asaf Avidan and Sinead O’Connor. After performing on this global stage, the possibilities are endless ,” added Kellen.
