WSU students casting their votes in SRC poll

Thousands of Walter Sisulu University students are casting their ballots to elect  new student representative council members at all four campuses of the university.
Organisations that are already in power are adamant to remain in control of the campuses they rule, while opposition parties are certain of taking over.
The organisation that are be contesting are South African Student Congress (Sasco), Democratic Alliance Student Organisation (Daso), Pan Africanist Student Movement of Azania (Pasma), Economic Freedom Fighters Student Command (EFFSC), Student Christian Organisation (Sco) and United Democratic Student Movement (Udesmo).
Currently the Buffalo City is under the leadership of Pasma after it joined forced with EFFSC to unseat Sasco, that had initially won the elections by votes.
Sco gained control of the Ibika campus in Butterworth after it went in coalition with Pasma.
In Mthatha, Sasco gained control of the campus after teamed up with the ANCYL.
Sasco retained the control of the University’s Queenstown campus.
Sasco provincial secretary Lali Ngobe said the ANC-aligned student organisation will for sure regain control of all four campuses of the university after October 4 elections.  
Ngobe said their aim was to take over all the campuses by not getting into coalition with any organisation.
SRC president at the Butterworth campus Siphelo Mkhuzangwe said they  were hoping regain the control of the campus.
New organisations like Udesmo, Daso and EFFSC are also hoping to get some seats.
Organiser of Udesmo at the Ibika campus, Thamsanqa Mfolozi, said, although they are contesting the elections for the first time in the whole university this year, they were hoping to win some seats.
EFFSC deputy chairperson at the Buffalo City campus Luvo Quvile said they were expecting more seats this year.
