Nyobo was 'a symbol of leadership' says sport minister at slain soccer boss's funeral

Hundreds of mourners attended the funeral service of slain soccer boss and prominent East London businessman Siphiwo "Mawawa" Nyobo at his Mdantsane NU17 home on Saturday.
Traditional healers, Tornado FC players, South African Football Association representatives and government officials were among those who paid their respects to Nyobo, with two huge marquee tents filled.
Nyobo, 55, was gunned down by three unknown suspects after watching his team played in an ABC Motsepe League match at North End Stadium on March 2.
The suspects shot at his car as he was leaving the venue.
Among the speakers at the funeral was minister of sport Tokozile Xasa, who described Nyobo, who also a traditional healer, as a selfless leader.
“He was a symbol of leadership that we look up to in our country. We are mourning yet happy to have shared a life with such a leader in our community. He was not just a traditional healer, but a healer of souls.
“His sacrifice to the development of this community and South Africa as a whole does not go unnoticed,” she said...
