Mourning the death of Leighandre “Baby Lee” Jegels and other victims of gender based violence, friends and neighbours of the East London-based international boxing and karate champion will be holding a candle light vigil outside the former star's family home in Dawn at 6:30pm tonight (Tuesday).

The family and neighbours invite anyone who would like to show their support for Jegels, and the many other women who have been victims of gender based violence, to attend the vigil.

“It is predominantly for Leighandre. We all knew her well, we were neighbours and we all mourn her death, but its also to mourn the death of the many women that have died at the hands of their lovers in this country,” said one of the neighbours organising the vigil, Tanella Irakoze.

“We will light candles and have 30 minutes of silence in remembrance of Jegels.”

The vigil starts at 6:30pm at 3 Klein Road in Dawn, East London.
