Police raided the offices of the Amathole district municipality (ADM) in East London on Monday.

Police spokesperson brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana said members of the provincial police anti-corruption unit were involved in the search.

Sources told DispatchLIVE on Tuesday that the probe relates to alleged fraud and corruption occurring in the municipality, and several high-ranking officials were questioned.

In November, 10 suspects were arrested on charges of corruption, fraud and money laundering in relation to the Siyenza R600m toilet scandal.
